Chicago Post Metal Group
Pelican Working on Sixth ALbum

Pelican, a post rock/post metal outfit hailing from Chicago, recently announced their return to the studio. On October 2nd, the group notified fans that they had begun recording their sixth record, as of yet untitled, at Steve Albini's legendary Chicago studio Electrical Audio. This will be the band's first record since 2013's Forever Becoming; assuming the new album is released early next year, it will mark an almost six year hiatus between albums for the band, although 2015 saw the release a 25 minute EP entitled The Cliff. Pelican has posting daily photos from the studio via Facebook and Instagram, keeping the fans updated on their progress with the new album. The LP will also be the band's third with Southern Lord Records, and their sixth overall collaboration with the label.
Unfortunately, only two days after entering the studio, guitarist Trevor de Brauw returned home to find that his house had been robbed. To help him pay for the insurance required to recover the loss, de Brauw is selling his own records on Discogs “Good morning! My house was robbed last night and my insurance has a $1000 deductible. Would love if you’d consider buying some records from me to help us recover our stuff,” he tweeted on Friday.

If you feel so inclined, you can help Trevor out by purchasing anything listed here. You can further support the band and stay tuned for more news concerning the upcoming album by following them on Facebook, Instagram, and Bandcamp.
