New Releases:
October 12th, 2018

In addition to Outer Heaven's new pulverizing face-melter Realms of Eternal Decay, October 12th marks the release of an eclectic and absolutely stacked list of impressive new LP's, including brand new black metal, sludge, tech-death, and even heavy psych. Check out the new juice.

Beyond Creation - Algorhythm

Quebecois tech death superstars Beyond Creation couldn't have picked a better name for their third album. An incomparable combination of mind-blowingly progressive rhythms and mathematical virtuoso performances, Algorythm is another massive success for the group, proving once again that Beyond Creation's interwoven complexity and creativity are unmatched by any band on the scene today.

Algorhythm is out now via Season of Mist, and can be ordered or streamed in full on Beyond Creation's Bandcamp.

Benighted - Dogs Always Bite Harder Than Their Master

From the hills of Babigny, France, Benighted has been at the
forefront of brutal death metal for twenty years. Celebrating their
two decades of existence, the band has just released a compilation
EP including five live renditions from their sold out 20th
anniversary show in Lyon, a cover of At the Gates' "Slaughter of
the Soul, and three previously unreleased tracks.
The EP is strictly limited to one pressing, so be sure to pick it up
ASAP via Benighted's Bandcamp.

Deadbird - III: The Forest Within the Tree

From the group's bandcamp: "A decade has now passed since the release of ‘Twilight Ritual’, the 2nd LP from Little Rock’s Deadbird. Though much has changed in the metal world since then, 10 years on Deadbird remains steadfast in their ability to sculpt heartwrenching and gutsy songs from the deepest, darkest places within. Years of toil and scorched southern soil went into the band’s third album ‘III: The Forest Within The Tree’ resulting in 40 haunting minutes of emotive turbulence and resolute grit." With the album's opening lyrics, "it's taken some time", the band seems to fully acknowledge their absence. But with sludgy aplomb, and no shortage of melancholic heft, it seems Deadbird hasn't missed a beat.

Stream and order III via 20 Buck Spin's Bandcamp page.

King Buffalo - Longing to Be the Mountain

Few bands have seen such a quick and effective rise to prominence as Rochester's premier heavy psych trio, ironically named King Buffalo. But with their second LP, rather than simply continuing to climb the mountain, they now seek to become the mountain itself. With six tracks of hard hitting, incredibly righteous psychedelic stoner rock, Longing to Be the Mountain is a must hear for anyone in search of an epic quest into deeply transcendental psychic landscapes.

Longing is out today via Stickman Records, and can be purchased or streamed on King Buffalo's Bandcamp.

Khandra - There Is No Division Outside Existence

With black metal expanding further and further into the realm of nihilistic philosophy, none delve quite as deep as Belarus's Khandra. According to the band, "the concept of the project is the flaw and inability of consciousness to reflect the boundlessness of the nothingness in the frames of reality, that (reality) only exists within and in the sanity. It is a sort of attempt of exceeding the limits of imagination, which makes the lyrics unavailable for criticism from the point of view of logical thinking." With mournful yet ferocious compositions delivering on the album's intellectual promises, Khandra has delivered one of 2018's most powerful black metal albums.

Order or stream There is no Division on Khanra's Bandcamp, which is out today via Redefining Darkness Records.

Vanhelgd - Deimos Sanktuarium

Back with more cavernous blackened death/doom, Sweden's prolific Vanhelgd is at it again with their fifth studio album, delivered to us by the equally consistent Dark Descent Records. In addition to spiraling bouts of extreme metal, the record features melancholic choral arrangements soaring over droning dirges. With sinister, looming riffs and lyrics in both Swedish and English, "Deimos Sanktuarium is a vibrant work of contempt and apathy molded in an enraptured state of beautiful grief."

Pick it the record or stream it today via Dark Descent's Bandcamp page.

Uncle Acid and the Deatbeats - Wasteland

What's not to love about Uncle Acid? Hailing from Cambridge, UK, these psycho stoners have consistently delivered their own unique brand of blood-drenched, delectably fuzzy atmosphere. Their first LP in three years, Wasteland proves once again that Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats have an unrivaled knack for groovy and infectious yet somewhat sinister riffs. Released through Britain's Rise Above Records, Uncle Acid's fourth LP represents their take on our dystopian present, presenting eight rockin' tracks that'll go splendidly with a night of psychedelics and hard drinking.

Purchase the record now via Rise Above's website.

Akitsa - Credo

Finally, Montreal's long-running dark atmospheric black metal group is back with their sixth LP, Credo. Although only their sixth full-length to date, their catalog contains an extensive list of EP's, splits, and collaborations. Concerning the record, Profound Lore had this to say: "at the threshold of its 20-year anniversary, Akitsa presents Credo, the band’s most focused, furious and hypnotic album to date. Throughout its history, the band has operated unconstrained, willing, and capable of simultaneously exploring divergent paths. The accretion of Akitsa’s sprawling array of influences finds its most comprehensive expression on this album." Furious indeed.

Credo is can be purchased and streamed via Akitsa's Bandcamp.
